True Entrepreneur

pimphouse.pngWhat’s the Pimp House? Somebody took a boring 4/2 rancher near Vegas and turned it into the Vegas Pimp House by painting it in bright colors and putting a pool table in the living room and a big screen TV in the “media room.” (Don’t know if a true pimp would be watching Scooby-Doo, but I’m sure stranger things have happened.) Price: $400 a night for weekends. Sweet. Gotta love that entrepreneurial vision. My only question — what self-respecting pimp has boring Sear-lookin’ white appliances? Where the sub-zero?

With Apple TV, Video Podcasts Now Make Sense

macbreak.pngOK, so I haven’t been the most vocal supporter of the Apple TV given that (a.) it won’t download movies and TV shows directly from the iTunes Store, which remains a massive oversight IMHO and (b.) it doesn’t serve as a wifi base station on its own, instead requiring that you buy an AirPort base station.

Also, (c.) I don’t have a hi-def TV yet and it seems doubtful that Ms. D is going to let me get one anytime soon. So I’m being a bit snarky, perhaps.

Having said all that, just a few days ago I actually found myself doing something that I may *never* have done before; I watched an entire video podcast. It was an episode of MacBreak starring none other than Leo Laporte. I watched it probably because (a.) I’m utterly in awe of the amazing volume of content Leo Laporte manages to put on the Internet and (b.) because they were talking about the Apple TV, and like a sheep to the sheer, I’m an Apple-anything addict, in spite of myself.

VIRB…MySpace Decluttered

Don’t know what good, exactly, another MySpace clone will do for the world as a whole, but it’s worth saying that VIRB has some advantages over MySpace. Take it from someone who surfs band pages every week trying to get clips of songs for a radio show…the VIRB feature of turning *off* the customization on people’s pages is huge. Huge! That may be the only real feature that VIRB is bringing to the table and yet it’s a nice one.

My guess…they’re waiting around to see if MySpace implodes from a major tech catastrophe or take some bizarre Rupert Murdoch turn for the even worse. Could that be their whole game plan?

Twitter and Jaiku: Huh?

Twitter LogoCan someone convince me that Twitter and Jaiku aren’t stupid? Unless I’ve missed something, the idea is to mini-blog what you’re currently doing in order that your friends can keep up with you. When you stop doing what you’re doing, presumably, you then mini-blog that.

Really?

PeopleTank Restaurant?

Underwater restaurant
I don’t know. Looks great, but I’m getting a little nervous just looking at the pictures. :-) I’m not too extreme about my phobias, but this place might set off my fear-of-an-underwater-
restaurant-imploding-in-on-itself (aquariphobia, I assume). Plus, I doubt their vegetarian fare would be worth it. Cool photos, though.
